How to Give Yourself an At-Home Pedicure

Pedicures are meant to be relaxing and a way to pamper yourself, but when you’re spending your hard on cash at a nail salon, it’s hard not to feel a little bit stressed. Instead, you should give yourself a pedicure in the comfort of your own home! Not only is this a good way to save money but you’re also avoiding any possible infections that you could pick up from a filthy foot bath. All it takes is about an hour and the right products for beautiful results.

How to Give Yourself an At-Home Pedicure

  1. First you need to remove old nail polish. Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover and remove the nail polish from your toes. Dark nail polish will take a little while longer to remove than lighter nail polish.
  2. Trim your nails with nail clippers. Make sure you don’t cut your nails too short, or it will be pretty painful. Once your toenails are cut, file them down to smooth out any sharp edges.
  3. Apply a good amount of cuticle oil. Rub it into your cuticles and let the oil to absorb for a couple of minutes.
  4. Soak your feet in a plastic container with warm water. Add a couple of scoops Epsom salt and let your feet soak for about 10 minutes.
  5. Exfoliate your feet with a pumice stone to soften the soles and heels of your feet. Then remove your cuticles carefully with a cuticle trimmer or push them back using a metal nail file. Afterwards, dry your feet with a towel and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
  6. Now it’s time to apply nail polish. Apply a base coat to your toenails first and allow it to dry for about 5 minutes. Then follow up with 2 coats of your favorite nail polish. Let this dry for about 10 minutes. Finish up your pedicure by applying a top coat and let this dry for an additional 20 minutes.
