When you’re shopping for shoes, there are a few things to keep in mind. Sure, they should be stylish and trendy, but what does that matter if they are killing your feet? To help you out on your journey to the perfect shoe, here is a list of the best and worst shoes for your feet.

- Low heels. Opt for heels that are two inches or lower. These won’t alter the way your muscles work as much or add any extra pressure to the balls of your feet.
- Stacked or thicker heels. Stilettos are hot, but you’ll probably topple over in them. A slightly chunkier heel will keep your foot in alignment and reduce the risk of straining ligaments.
- Wide toe boxes. A rounded toe will give your foot room to move naturally. A pointy toe squishes your toes together. However, if the point begins to narrow past your toes, it those may be fine.
Give These the Boot
- Heels over three inches. These heels will add pressure to the balls of the feet. But, if you absolutely have to wear them and show off your legs, try to limit yourself to only having them on for a few hours at a time.
- Platforms. Your shoe should bend at the ball of your foot. A stiff style will keep your feet from having natural movement.
- Flat shoes. Flip-flops and ballet flats have no arch support, or if they do then it’s not enough to really help your foot. Instead of these, opt for shoes with a wide ¼-inch heel.
