Eating Right for the Health of Your Feet

Eating a healthy and balanced diet has a strong impact on every part of your life. By choosing to eat a balanced diet and minimize the chances of diabetes, for example, you can help minimize the risk of wounds healing more slowly and issues like loss of feeling or pain arising with your feet. There are other things to consider that can benefit your foot health simply by watching your diet. Follow our guidelines for eating for the health of your feet!

 Calcium and Vitamin D

Stronger bones are created by a regular intake of calcium. This helps prevent osteoporosis, which is an issue that relates to extra pressure on your feet and therefore more issues with the health of your feet. It is important, however, not to have too much calcium or Vitamin D, as an excess of either of these can have a negative impact on your health as well. Your doctor can help you figure out what’s right for you and your body.

Balance Fats and Increase Vegetables and Fruits

Minimize trans-fat and saturated fat and avoid sodium. Eat more fruits and vegetables. This allows for weight loss, the reduction of inflammation and better regulation of your circulation due to the proper dietary choices. This type of diet is recommended to help keep your body healthy. It only makes sense that your feet would benefit from the right dietary decisions as well!

Exercise

While not directly related to what you can eat to keep your feet healthy, exercise is always important to stay fit and healthy, and burn calories. This is beneficial for both your diet to keep a healthy weight and therefore not cause issues with your feet and also it minimizes bone loss and therefore helps keep your feet from taking the brunt of issues related to bone loss and unhealthy eating habits.

Maintaining a healthy weight is directly related to exercising and eating a nutritious diet. For this reason, it can help minimize the problems you may run into with your feet. Having continuous pain or loss of feeling in your feet can cause problems in your daily routine. For that reason, it is best to work on the healthy diet and protect your feet that way as much as possible.
