If you’re experiencing painful cracking and peeling of your feet, then the skin on your feet is too dry. The openings that are present in the skin on your feet allow bacteria access, which can lead to infection, only making your condition worse. There are some natural remedies for this problem, though. By following these simple steps, you can be on your way to soft, healthy feet.
Natural Remedies for Dry and Cracked Feet
Step 1: Moisturize your feet frequently. Apply a lotion or petroleum jelly to add and lock in moisture, and cover your feet with soft cotton socks. Do this every day right before you go to bed for the best results.
Step 2: Wash your feet every day with an antibacterial soap to clean away bacteria from the cracks in your skin. This will help prevent painful infections. Dry your feet with a soft, dry towel by patting them gently.
Step 3: Use a pumice stone to scrub away dead skin cells and treat hardened skin that could eventually crack. Do this when your feet are dry, before you wash or moisturize. Stop immediately if you experience any pain.
Step 4: Soak your feet in plain undiluted lemon juice to help soften your skin. Do this at least once a week for 10 minutes at a time to see the best results.
Step 5: Drink plenty of water and avoid drinking caffeine and alcohol, which can dry out your skin, making your problem worse. And, of course, drink at least eight glasses of water every day.
