With all of the stress you’ve gotten from working long hours all week, the thing you need is a nice day at the spa, right? Not necessarily. In fact, when you go to get a pedicure you could be putting yourself at risk for infection, which is probably going to lead to even more stress. Here are a few tips to avoid a bad pedicure at the spa.
How to Have a Stress-Free Spa Day
- Make sure the salon is licensed. The license will most likely be posted in the reception area in plain sight.
- The person performing your pedicure should have an operator’s license posted in his or her workstation.
- The Board’s Health & Safety Poster should be displayed in the reception area.
- Check for overall cleanliness and sanitized instruments. Operators should always sanitize instruments after each person they work on.
- Ask the operator how the spas are cleaned. Don’t be afraid to ask – it’s perfectly acceptable to make sure everything is cleaned properly.
- Trust your instincts. If things don’t seem right and you have a bad feeling about the salon, just leave.
