If you suffer from Varicose Veins then you are a member of a very large club. It is estimated that over 25 million Americans face a daily struggle with the swollen, ropey veins that can cause throbbing pain, severe swelling, and heavy, tired legs. These symptoms as well as Ulcerations and discoloration of the skin are an indication of Venous Insufficiency/Venous re
flux and compromised circulation and can cause serious long term health issues if not medically treated in time.
Dr Goldbaum is certified in the diagnosis of Venous Insufficiency/Varicose Veins and the use of a Minimally Invasive new technique called the Venus Closure Fast Radio Frequen
cy Catheter ™ which has been proven to be a highly effective technique in the treatment of Chronic Venus Disease. Traditionally, patients diagnosed with Venous Reflux would have to undergo a painful surgery known as Vein Stripping surgery.
Varicose veins are enlarged veins. The veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet, although Varicose Veins can also be found in the groin and ankle areas. The reason for this is primarily the increased pressure that can build up in your legs and feet after standing for long periods of time and, of course, from walking.
Varicose veins and spider veins, for many people, are just a cosmetic issue but for a considerable number of others Varicose Veins may also be a warning of other sometimes serious circulatory problems.
Some Symptoms of Venus Insufficiency
- Heavy aching legs.
- Swelling in your lower legs as well as burning and throbbing.
- Pain after sitting or standing for an extended period of time.
What are the causes of Varicose Veins
As you age your risk of developing Varicose Veins increases dramatically. Your Veins begin to lose elasticity and may start to stretch. The valves in your veins may weaken over time allowing some of the blood that would normally flow towards your heart to begin pooling in your Veins instead. The Veins then become engorged and enlarged causing pain and swelling.
Women are more likely to develop Varicose Veins due to hormonal changes. These hormonal changes can be due to pregnancy, menopause, birth control pills or hormone therapy, however, men can also develop varicose veins.
Ulcers can form near the Varicose Veins caused by fluid build-up in the tissues. The ulcer will heal when the vein has been shut down.
Swelling of the leg indicates that an immediate visit to the Doctor for examination is required. When a vein that is situated deep within the leg becomes enlarged it may signal a possible risk for a blood clot.
