A bunion is when there is joint protruding along the base of your big toe on either of your feet. This condition can be the result of not wearing the proper shoes, the condition can progress with age and can cause pain, inflammation, and swelling. If the problem is because of shoes then you can trade in your footwear but this is not always the case. Some bunions are the results of genetic make-up or pre-disposition that results in development that is abnormal of the foot. There are many homeopathic remedies that you can use to treat bunions.
Rubber Or Foam Pad
One of the first treatments to try is to use a rubber or foam pad that you place on your foot. This helps to separate your big toe from your other toes while you are sleeping. This allows your toe to be able to rest and over time it will help with the realignment.
Shoe Inserts
Another option that you may want to look at for treating bunions is to use an insert for the shoe. This will help to relieve some of the pressure from your toes while you wear footwear and are standing or walking frequently.
Chamomile Tea
Another option for natural relief is to use an essential oil chamomile tea bag and place it on the area of the bunion. You then will want to massage the area with the bag each night. This will help to balance the fluid of the joint and help with the re-alignment of your toe.
Acupuncture
Some people find that acupuncture helps with bunions as well. This involves tiny little needles that are placed in areas of your body depending on the type of condition that you suffer from. This is a little more expensive and will need to be done by a professional who knows what they are doing however. This treatment should not be tried at home.
See A Podiatrist
Another option that you have for treating bunions is to see a podiatrist. This may really be what is needed in order for some people to get the pain management and treatment that they need. A podiatrist specializes in the care of feet so they will know exactly what you need to do in order to fix the problem and they will also be able to manage any pain that you are having if it is not able to be managed with methods that you have tried at home.
You want to make sure that you try and treat your bunion when you first notice it. This is due to the fact that it can continue to get worse if you don’t immediately start to try and fix it when it is first noticed. You don’t want the condition to get so painful that you begin to have problems with walking and performing your daily activities. If you are trying at home methods for relieving the pain and it is not working then it may be time to consult a doctor about the problem.
